Corporate history


1946

Company founded. Began tuna fishing operations.
Corporate name altered to Hoko fishing Co., Ltd.in the same year.
    

1949 Company listed on the First Section of the Tokyo Stock Exchange.
1955

Salmon fishing activities started with a factory vessel and a fleet of fishing boats.
The vessel was seeking for various fish resource in fishing ground of all over the world.

1959

Land-based food processing started with inauguration of the Kesenuma Factory.
“Honiho” registered as our brand name. 

1960

Inauguration of the Hachinohe Factory.  

1961 Began mother-ship type crab fishing activities. Inauguration of the Yamato Factory. Listed on the first section of the Osaka Stock Exchange.
1964

Began deep sea trawling in the Atlantic. Established Hoko Rolf Company to begin dairy product business.

1967 Began frozen food business.
1968 Began deep sea trawling in the Northern Pacific.
1983 Introduction of JOIQ brand, a series of high-grade frozen foods designed for use at restaurants.
1986 Amalgamation of Hoko Rolf Company.
Hachinohe Factory rebuilt at a new site.
1990 Production of frozen and processed marine products started at a partner’s factory in Thailand.
1995  Joint venture company established in China started manufacturing the processed foods.
1998 Rolf Yamato factory acquired ISO9002 certification.
2001  Seamless production line for production of processed cheese installed at Rolf Yamato factory.

April 
Announced initiation of corporate reorganization proceedings.  
2002
July 
Initiation of corporate reorganization proceedings decided.
2003
June
Plan for corporate reorganization proceedings approved and adopted.
2003
June
Corporate name altered to Hoko Co., Ltd.

Head office relocated to Takanawa, Minato-ku, Tokyo.

Complete normal capital reduction of Yen 3 billion. Received investment of equivalent amount (Yen 3 billion) from Nippon Meat Packers on the same date.
The company becomes a completely owned subsidiary.

Rolf Yamato factory acquired ISO9001 certification.

Kesennuma and Hachinohe factories merged.

Corporate reorganization proceedings completed.

Hachinohe factory acquired ISO 9001 cetification.

Inauguration of the Rolf Nishinomiya plant.
